Introduction

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

The IEEE-1394b interface is a serial standard bus for high-speed

communication and isochronous real-time data transfer. The IEEE-

1394b transfer rate is up to 800Mbps and device distances can now

be up to 100 meters.

The AX93501 supports two channel IEEE-1394b ports on a PCI

express x1 card. The AX93501 provides IEEE 1394b bilingual

connectors with locking screw for reliable connection between the

AX93501 and devices, such as camera, hard drive, RAID, and

complaint IEEE 1394a device. It also supports plug and play

connectivity for IEEE 1394.b devices and peripherals.
